Abstract

The paper deals with the analysis of English adjective + noun collocations and their corresponding equivalents in Macedonian. More specifically, it focuses on the English adjective “criminal” and several nouns it collocates with in an authentic formal text.

The analyzed corpus is extracted from an official document in English issued by the European Commission and its Macedonian translation.

The aim of the paper is to determine the equivalence level between the original English collocations and their Macedonian translational equivalents with reference to their form as well as the meaning they convey.
