Analysis of Attacks On the Wireless Computer Network

Abstract

In the recent years, things have turned more towards the concept of “Internet of Things”, which represents networking, mostly wireless different types of objects that are in mutual communication. This may include various physical objects, vehicles, buildings and other things with built-in electronic devices, software, sensors and networks that enable sharing information between connected devices that can be remotely monitored and controlled. While it brings many benefits, it also brings to the focus the question of security. It is considered as one of the most importance especially having in mind that most of the above-mentioned systems are used for critical infrastructure, where the system is expected to work towards perfection, and where any kind of influence on the network may be fatal for their performance. Since wireless networks become dominant compared to wired ones, their security evaluation is widely researched. There are different tools avaliable for security evaluation of local wireless computer networks. In this paper, we are focusing on tools that can be found within Kali Linux OS.  For evaluation purpose, we were launching a set of different attacks on wireless networks, and afterwards we made a comparison of their performance. Our experiment have showed that wifi is prone to attacks, that they can easilly be performed by using avaliable free platforms and that Kali Linux provide tools for that that are efficient.
